Nelson City.
The view from the place we stayed at. That silo was a major eyesore, but the rest was lovely. Best fish and chips shop in New Zealand is under there somewhere.  Posted via email from zoetrope’s posterous | Comment »

Catholic Cathedral. Christchurch.
Christchurch is largely destroyed now. This is an example of the damage. Rather crudely photographed I’m afraid, as the half car demonstrates. The containers are holding up bales of hay and straw which help absorb the aftershocks. Shipping containers line the streets to stop debris rolling onto the road. The beginning of the real people.
Stan and Marlene, a wonderful couple whom I have known all my life, live right here in the idyllic area before the foothills.Always try and stay there on any visit to New Zealand to let the city bustle wear off. Stan and Marlene’s place  Posted via email from zoetrope’s posterous | Comment »

the beginning of the family
A seriously long time ago my family seemed to form up right about here. This is a the beginning of the Lewis Pass, heading to the West Coast. They lived right on the river and tossed in a few pine trees which survived the trauma of many floods. This is the very approximate area. Hope River Kind of explains why all the females have Hope in their name. Posted via email from...

The new buggy
This was shipped from Peter Lynn headquarters in Ashburton, 60 miles South of Chrischurch, up to Nelson where Rainbow Flight are based, then transshipped over to Westport on the West Coast of New Zealand, ready for our arrival in the country. I am impressed. That is one good looking buggy. Thank you Rainbow Flight. Now to pick suitable kites to take with me. October is when it all happens. ...
